Through the open doorway he can see Nagisa asleep on the couch, a book still open on her chest, her dark hair spread across the cushion. He does not wake her. He carries Ushio back to the small bed in the next room, lays her down, and stands there for a long moment, listening to the soft, even rhythm of her breathing. Outside, the town is silent. The World, if it is watching, does not need to do anything. It simply lets this moment be enough.
